Lesson #4
Scripture Reading - Romans Chapter 4 and 5
Imputation - a legal term meaning to count as or to credit to ones account.
This word was used several times in the Book of Romans explaining how we became sinners and how we become
righteous.
(Romans 4: 6)
(Romans 4: 8)
(Romans 4: 22)
(Romans 4: 24)
Adams sin was imputed to us. (Romans 5: 14, 18, 19)
Our sins were imputed to Christ. (II Cor 5: 21 Isa 53: 3, 6)
Christ righteousness was imputed to us. (Romans 5: 19, Romans 4: 11)
This is accomplished through grace by faith. (Ephesians 2:8)
On what basis was Abraham counted righteous? (Romans 4: 3, 5)
Can the ungodly be counted as righteous by faith? (Romans 4:5)
Faith and repentance are inseparable. (Acts 13: 38, 39 Acts 20: 20, 21)
The prayer of every man should be "Heavenly Father I approach you by faith in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus
was born, lived a sinless life and died on a cross, was buried and resurrected that I might be saved. I repent of my
sins on the cross of Calvary. I renounce my sins and turn away from the old life that I lived. Jesus, I receive you into my
heart. I receive your blood for my cleansing. I boldly say that I am counted as righteous because of my faith in your work of
redemption. I realize that there is nothing that I can not do to make myself righteous. It is only through grace by faith."
