Lesson #2

Scripture Reading - Romans 3:1-31

Review

The entire human race both Gentil and Jew stand guilty before God and will taste the penalty of sin which is death. (Romans 3: 19, 3: 23, 3: 9) We became guilty because of Adam's fall. Sin was imputed to us, consequently we became sinners.

Gentils know of God but reject him. (Romans 1: 18-32)

Jews have God's laws but are not righteous. (Romans 2: 1-29)

God is just to judge all men.(Romans 3: 1-20)

The Jews would have liked to have condemned the Gentiles and to have said look at us but Paul said you dishonor God by boasting of having the law and then breaking it. The name of God was blasphemed because of this. (Romans 2: 23-24)

Do we have a holier than thou attitude? Do we judge others if they don't measure up to our standards?

The Jews thought that they were righteous because of the outward sign of circumcision and by keeping the law. (Acts 15: 1-5)   (Romans 10: 1-3)

If it is not outward, where is it? (Romans 10: 8-13, 3:28, 5:1)
