Christ Church
Romans
Lesson #1
Every great revival or awakening was preceded by the preaching and
teaching the Book of Romans. It brings liberty and awareness of who we are
and what grace really means to us.
Questions to be answered:
On what basis is a man accepted with God?
How does a man become righteous?
Are we saved by keeping the law?
What part does the law play in our life?
What is justification? What is sanctification?
Why was Israel rejected by the Lord?
How are we led by the Spirit? What is the Old Man?
What is the difference in condemnation and conviction?
What should be our attitude toward others concerning personal convictions?
Written by Paul to the church in Rome. God chose the greatest enemy of the church to be
the greatest Apostle.
Romans 1: 16-17
I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it (the gospel) is the power of God unto
salvation and reveals the righteousness of God. The declaration is made
THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.
The gospel of Christ is the good news that Jesus was born, he lived, he died, he was
buried and he rose from the dead. He did this that we might be saved. He took our
sins on the cross and paid the penalty of death for us that he might declare us not guilty.
Romans 1: 16-32 shows us a picture of man without God. Paul brings us into the courtroom of God
and pronounces a 26 count indictment against the Gentiles.
He shows us that man is vile, corrupt and all together unrighteous.
He is so vile that God gives him over to his sinful way and says there is none good. In chapter
2 he brings the Jews into the same courtroom and pronounces a 14 count indictment against
them and tells them that they have no right judging others for they are guilty of the same
thing.
In Romans 3: 19, Paul said that the whole world is guilty before God.
It is only through grace by faith in the blood of Jesus that we can be saved and
declaredNOT GUILTY.
